summer shows updates
We are grateful to the community for the kind words, encouragement, and support over the last couple of months. We can't wait to perform for you again. Though California is starting to re-open, we are not able to get back to work just yet. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our summer productions of Butch Cassidy and the Sun Burnt Kid and The Perils of Pismo Peg.
But...
We are working on a BRAND NEW SHOW that we hope to open this summer.
We're hard at work putting together an evening of comedy, song, and dance that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

After hearing from our audience in our recent survey, and listening to Public Health officials, we'll have to make some changes to our operations. These will help keep our audiences and employees as safe as possible. Details are still being worked out due to new regulations and the evolving situation, but here are some updates for you:
These changes will create a safer experience for all our guests, and allow us to get back to work, providing you the high-quality family-fun you've come to expect from the Melodrama over the years.
We thank you again for your support and we will be in touch as soon as we have more details.
- Show Lineup
In late June as SLO County progressed in the fight against COVID-19, we cautiously and enthusiastically started work creating an evening of comedy, song, and dance that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The cast is made up of longtime Melodrama favorites who are sure to delight audiences. This show will be shorter than our normal offerings, but still provide a full night's worth of entertainment. It'll be the perfect night for folks who've been cooped up for a while. The stage is set, the show is hilarious, the theater is spruced up and ready for an audience, yet we will be taking an INDEFINITE INTERMISSION. It is clear that CA still has more work to do to before we can safely gather again. We will wait, patiently prepared to make you laugh. - What Happens to my Tickets?
Your tickets will be exchanged for our new production at no charge. Our box office staff will work with you on changing dates and re-accommodating your party once we reopen. We know some of you may not be going out even after restrictions are lifted. If you'd rather us print you'd rather exchange your ticket for a gift certificate that never expires, we can do that too. If you'd like to discuss an alternate accommodation, please drop us a note or leave a message and we'll reach out as soon as we can reopen our box office.

- Seating Capacity and Layout
We will have a whole new seating layout to ensure 6 feet of distance between each party. It will reduce our capacity more than 50%, this means that there will be far fewer seats on the floor -- more space and better sight lines. It also means that we will not be seating as many people in the pews. This means that some folks won't be able to book their regular seats, which we understand is not ideal. However, we need to ensure that there is adequate space in order to reopen. There will be plenty of good seats available! Box Office representatives will be available to help you select new seats for your chosen performance and walk you through all our seating options. As you already have tickets reserved, you will have priority in booking new seats. As soon as we are able to, we will go back to our previous seating chart. - Snack Bar Changes
The bar line will be arranged to allow for safe distancing, and there will be plexiglass separating you from the bar staff. Our menu is still being tweaked, but certain items will be available via pre-order, like intermission beverages or dessert. For better sanitation, coffee and condiments will no longer be self-serve.
These changes will create a safer experience for all our guests, and allow us to get back to work, providing you the high-quality family-fun you've come to expect from the Melodrama over the years.
We thank you again for your support and we will be in touch as soon as we have more details.
