Our Current Cast

Philip David Black is excited to be spending his summer at Melodrama her on the Central Coast!  A recent graduate of Huntington University in Indiana, Philip has previously been a company member of Timber Lake Playhouse (Mt. Carroll, IL), Weathervane Playhouse (Newark, OH), and Blue Gate Theater (Shipshewana, IN).  Past professional roles include Billy Flynn (Chicago), Ali Hakim (Oklahoma!), Orvin Scrivello (Little Shop of Horrors), and Richard Hannay (The 39 Steps).  He wishes to thank his parents, Pat & Cathy Black, for their continuous encouragement and support.

Crystal Davidson

Actress

Crystal Davidson is a graduate of Rockford College with a BFA in Musical Theater and she is thrilled to be a part of the summer productions, Gunsmokin’ and Rags to Riches. You may have previously seen her in TGAM's Vaudeville Spectacular or The Three Musketeers. She was also recently seen in the in the New York City premiere of Love Quirks. In addition, she has performed at numerous venues across the country including the Gaylord National Resort, Amish Acres Round Barn Theater, Broadway Palm West Dinner Theater and Cornwells Dinner Theater. Some of her favorite roles include Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Laurey in Oklahoma!, Judy/ Ginger DelMarco in Ruthless!, and The Witch in Into The Woods. She would like to thank her family and her wonderful boyfriend, Steve, for their constant love and support.

Kat is ecstatic to join the Great American Melodrama family!  She holds a BA in Theater from the University of Arkansas, and a MFA from University of Missouri-Kansas City.  Some of her favorite roles include Witch in Macbeth (Heart of America Shakespeare), Anita in West Side Story (UArk), Kristine in Miss Julie (UMKC), Dottie in Killer Joe (UMKC), Molly in Farragut North (The Unicorn), Estella in Great Expectations (UMKC), and Ariel in The Tempest (UMKC). She also originated the role of Melissa in the world premiere of Train to 2010 and various roles in the world premiere of Slammed! KC Speaks Out On the Recession at UMKC.  Thank you to my best friend Chelsea Ferrell.  And to my incredible Mother, Susan Turner for always loving and supporting me!  You are my inspiration.

Steven Freitas

Steven’s back again for a rompin’ good time in these fantastic summer shows at TGAM! You may have recently seen him as a “spitting champion” or perhaps as a “singer of punctuation” in TGAM's production of The Vaudeville Spectacular. A native of New England and graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Steven has performed throughout the east coast working in both theatre and television. Past credits include The Man Who Came to Dinner with the late James Whitmore, The Odd Couple as Felix Unger, The Laramie Project as Jedadiah Schultz, A Little Night Music as Henrik Egerman, and Titanic as Fred Barrett to name a few. Steven can also be seen as a recurring character on PBS' The Electric Company! Special thank you to my family, friends, and my girlfriend for the love and support. 

Kraig is overjoyed to make his West Coast debut with The Great American Melodrama this summer!  Kraig was last seen as Wilbur in Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s production of Charlotte’s Web.  Other OST credits include Cymbeline, Romeo and Juliet, Feverish, and The Importance of Being Earnest.  He has also performed in The Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, Ernest in Love, and Aesop’s Fables at the Texas Shakespeare Festival. Kraig holds a BFA from the University of Central Florida, where he performed roles such as Malvolio in Twelfth Nightand Trissotin in The Learned Ladies (Invited Production at KCACTF – Region IV).  He would like to thank his family and friends for their incredible love and support!

Molly Laurel

Actor

Molly is loving living and performing on the Central Coast.  You just saw her playing the ukulele and strolling through London Town in the Vaudeville Spectacular.  Some Los Angeles credits include Janet in the Rocky Horror Show at the Underground, and the new musical, Pearly Gates at the El Portal. She spent last summer at Great Plains Theatre performing in Daddy's Dyin'..., Don't Dress for Dinner, and singing and playing mandolin, uke, piano and guitar in Smoke on the Mountain.  Other credits include Ring of Fire and Smoke… at Cornwell's Theatre, Belle in I'm All Ears: Songs of Disney at the Old Creamery, Signe in Church Basement Ladies and Lucille in Junie B. Jones at Circa 21 and Christmas in the Smokies at Dollywood.  She also starred in the Broadway bound musical, White Noise, in New York. Some TV credits includeLaw and Order, the Martha Stewart Show and the College Humor Show on MTV.  BA from the University of California at Irvine. www.mollylaurel.com 

Jake is starting to feel like a staple at The Great American Melodrama. He has performed in 3 of the last 6 shows, stage managed one and this is second time directing a vaudeville. He is a native of California's Central Coast and worked as an usher at The Melodrama while attending Arroyo Grande High School over a decade ago. Jake has been involved with numerous local productions over the last 20 years. In 2003 he moved to New York City where he lived off and on for 8 years. He worked Off-Broadway at The Irish Repertory Theater as a technical director and sang in the chorus of their annual gala production of Brigadoon in 2010. Jake is the proud owner of THE SPOT in Arroyo Grande where there are endless amounts of entertainment being offered currently. Love to ma, pop, Duff and Doe. Enjoy the show!

Von Cleve Lewis

Actor

Von Cleve Lewis is super excited to be making his West Coast debut at The Great American Melodrama. A native North Carolinian, he has pursued his career in T.V., Film, and Commercial work all over the mid/east U.S. - He recently appeared in a FORD commercial with Aaron Rodgers doing famed title belt move- and previously, performed at Allenberry Playhouse in P.A., in the shows - HELLO DOLLY, and THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Back in North Carolina, he traveled around singing the American Jazz Standards in restaurants, weddings, and various types of events across Eastern NC. Von is a graduate of East Carolina University, and would like to that his family and friends for their constant love and support. Alex Sheets is happy to be spending his summer at The Great American Melodrama. A native Virginian, he has worked in theaters such as Wayside: Smoke on the Mountain, Miracle on 31st Street, Parkway Playhouse: The Ballad of Tom Dooley, Along About Sundown, Pride and Prejudice, Annie, and The Kennedy Center: Verdi Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Jonah. Alex is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, and would like to that his family for their constant love and support.
